25th January Quote of the Week

Every failure brings with it the seed of an equivalent success.

This quote comes from Napoleon Hill, one of the greatest ever self-help writers.

It emphasises the positive relationship that we should have with failure.

Failure is not the opposite of success, but rather an essential step on the road to achievement.

It is in failure that we acquire the knowledge, experience and resilience required to achieve our goals.

18th January Quote of the Week

How much pain have cost us the evils that have never happened.

This quote comes from the great Thomas Jefferson, former U.S. President and principle author of the Declaration of Independence.

Many of the things that we worry about never happen, but the worry itself causes us to suffer, draining our energy and causing us anxiety.

It is good to be aware of what can go wrong and to have plans for dealing with problems. However, we need to have a clear view of reality, not a view clouded with frightening and pessimistic imagery.

Worry wastes time and energy and achieves nothing.

11th January Quote of the Week

The problems of the world cannot possibly be solved by sceptics or cynics whose horizons are limited by the obvious realities. We need people who can dream of things that never were.

This quote comes from former U.S. President John F. Kennedy.

It can be very easy to get into a limiting frame of mind where instead of focussing on our goals, we focus instead on the difficulties of achieving them. We may also come across other people who will be cynical or sceptical about what we are trying to achieve.

While it is important to be aware of the obstacles in our way so that we can formulate strategies for overcoming them, it is important to look beyond the difficulties to see the big picture.

If we think big and remain focussed and optimistic we can live truly extraordinary lives.

4th January Quote of the Week

A goal is a dream with a deadline.

This quote comes from Napoleon Hill, one of the earliest and most respected self-help experts and advisor to President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

When setting goals, it is important to specify the timeframes in which we aim to achieve them.

Without timeframes there is a great danger that our goals will lose urgency and that we will end up procrastinating or crowding them out with other activities.
