Living life to the full requires us to reach out and open our hearts to others. This way our life becomes big and loving.
If we close our hearts we will live a small life, full of fear, insecurity and meanness of spirit.

This quote comes from Charlie Chaplain’s character in the final speech in the movie The Great Dictator.
It affirms the greatness and generosity that is at the heart of the human spirit and rejects the small-minded thinking that is the cause of such evils as racism and prejudice.
When we look at the problems and violence in the world, it is all too easy to be cynical and lose hope in the human condition. However, Chaplain reminds us that the human spirit is inherently positive, something we should not lose sight of.
